Triglav and Triglav National Park
TRIGLAV (Engl.: triple-headed)
With an
area of 84,805 hectares, the only national park in
Slovenia covers almost the whole of the Slovene stretch
of the Julian Alps. It is named after
the highest mountain in Slovenia, Mt. TRIGLAV (2864
meters), a symbol of Slovenia.
The heart
of the Triglav National Park consists of the high
mountain ridges and their peaks and the deep glacial
valleys. It also contains the sources of two beautiful
rivers, the Sava and the Soca. |
